2017 & 2018 Solidarity Beer Labels
DC Beer Week's Collaboration Brew
DC Brewers' Guild reached out in 2017 and 2018 to ask me to design the beer label for Solidarity, their yearly collaboration beer that is brewed by all of the DC Brewers' Guild member breweries for DC Beer Week. Each label required a thank you to the Beer's sponsors, as well as additional logos for Independent Brewing and Made In DC.
2017 Solidarity Beer The 2017 Solidarity beer was lead by Right Proper Brewing and 3 Stars Brewing. The beer was a funky Brett IPA and brewed at Right Proper Brewing in one of their French Oak Foeders with their wild yeast culture. It was then packaged in 750ml corked bottles at 3 Stars Brewing. The label design was hand-drawn by my self to reflect the wild, imperfect nature of the wild yeast culture used to create the beer. Additionally, the artwork itself utilizes a vague map of the DMV region, showing that the DC brewing community is apart of a great whole.
2018 Solidarity Beer The 2018 Solidarity Beer was lead by Atlas Brewing. The beer was a Pilsner meant to be enjoyed on a hot August day when DC Beer Week was typically held. The label design was a quickly processed request, fulfilled within 10 days from initial discussions to the final product. The design overall took a cleaner, more modern approach, using heavy sans-serif fonts to give the feeling of solidity. The design did play a little bit off of the 2017 beer label, in that there were hand-drawn elements incorporate to bring in a little continuity from the previous year.
